Privacy Policy
BTD Technology Pty Ltd, ACN 670 507 276 ("BTD", "we") handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy covers btdengineering.org, the BTD Library at draft.btdengineering.org and the BTD Draft AutoCAD kit.
What we collect
| Kind of information | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account details | Name, email address, phone number, company, user name and a scrambled (hashed) password |
| Trial orders | Your contact details, the amount paid, and the date and Stripe reference. We do not receive your full card number |
| Use of the Service | Lifts drafted and drawing checks, who did them, and the name and identifier of the computer used |
| Technical details | IP address and sign-in activity, used to run the Service and limit repeated failed sign-ins |
| Documents and drawings | Files you upload or send for review, including any names in them, such as on a title block |
| Enquiries | What you enter in our enquiry form or send us by email |
You can ask a general question without giving your real name. We need your real details to set up a trial or an account.
How we collect it
We collect it from you, from a colleague who sets up your login or adds your details, and from the AutoCAD kit when your computer connects. Stripe tells us when a payment has gone through.
The website has no analytics or advertising trackers. The Library uses a cookie to keep you signed in, and the website remembers your light or dark setting in your browser.
Why we use it
- to provide and support the Service, and set up trials and logins
- to take payment and meet tax and record-keeping duties
- to keep the Service secure, and to show later what the system said
- to answer enquiries and tell you about changes to the Service
We use your information for direct marketing only with your consent, or where you would reasonably expect it. Every marketing email has a way to unsubscribe. We do not sell personal information.
The Service does not use personal information to make automated decisions that significantly affect a person. The AI features read crane documents and review drawings.
How we store and protect it
The website, the Library and their backups are on servers we rent in Helsinki, Finland. Connections use HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and nightly backups are encrypted. Access is limited to people who need it. A new trial's first password is kept until it has been shown to you once.
We keep account and company data as the Terms of Use describe. We keep payment and tax records for at least 5 years. Deleted data leaves backups within about 30 days.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the providers below, so they can do this work for us, or where the law requires it.
| Provider | What it handles | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Hetzner Online GmbH (hosting) | Everything stored in the website and the Library | Finland |
| Anthropic PBC (AI) | Documents you upload and sheets you send for AI review | United States |
| Stripe (payments) | Your contact and payment details at checkout | Australia and United States |
| Resend (email) | Your name, email address and the login email | United States, sent through Japan |
| Google (business email) | Emails you send to us or we send to you | United States and other countries |
| Ethos enquiry form (ethos.pu-94.com) | What you enter in the enquiry form | Sydney, Australia |
Before personal information goes overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us for the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Email info@btdengineering.org. It is free to ask, and we aim to reply within 30 days. If we refuse, we will say why in writing.
To make a privacy complaint, email the same address with the details. We will investigate and reply in writing within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Data breaches
If a breach of your personal information is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, and say what you can do.

We will post any changes on this page, with the date. You can ask for a free copy of this policy in another form.
